But Earth Hour is more than just an hour for Earth – it’s a movement for our own futures, for the benefit of people and planet.
On 26 March, 8:30 pm local time, Switch off your lights to stand united for each other & the one home we all share!
“Earth Hour”, also known as “switching off the lights for an hour”, Started in 2007 by WWF and partners as a symbolic lights-out event in Sydney to raise awareness of climate change. Earth Hour is now one of the world’s largest grassroots movements for the environment.
Over the past decade, the lights have been switched off for one hour from 20:30 to 21:30 on the last Saturday of March every year, so as to stimulate people’s sense of responsibility for protecting the earth, think about environmental issues such as climate change, and show their support for the global joint action against climate warming.
In the face of the grim situation of accelerating global species extinction and increasing risks of biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation, Earth hour in 2022 will call on the public to take action, convey the hope of “Green recovery” through “Voice for the earth” and build confidence in the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
